There are many misconceptions surrounding yoga and sound healing.
You have to be flexible.
You have to stop thinking.
You have to be "spiritual."
I've heard them all.
The truth is, yoga and sound healing are for everyone. They're simply practices that invite us to slow down, reconnect with ourselves, and create a little more space to breathe in our busy lives.
If you've been curious but have been holding yourself back because of something you've heard, this post is for you.
Let's unlearn a few things together.

🧘🏻♀️ Yoga is for every body.
Tight bodies, flexible bodies, young bodies, old bodies, and everything in between.
Of course you’re going to feel tight when you’re starting your practice. You haven’t even started yet! Silly goose 🫶🏻
My tip 👇🏼
Offer your body additional support by using props like blocks, bolsters, straps, blankets, couch cushions… whatever it takes! Start slow and breatheee deeply into each pose. If it feels good, close your eyes and really feel into it. Fall in love with the sensations.

😌 Rest is productive
The world is so go go go. Literally, why??
Of course there is a time and place for productivity, but we can't have all speed and no stillness.
Taking time to pause, rest, and let life settle into our bodies is where the magic happens.
My tip 👇🏼
Set a timer on your phone for 5-10 minutes and lie on the floor or the couch.
Stare at the ceiling.
Allow yourself to be bored.
Allow yourself to experience stillness.
You don’t need to meditate during this time. Just be.

💭 You don’t have to “turn your brain off”
TBH, it’s very rare that my mind turns off during yoga. Honestly, I have some of my greatest realizations while practicing.
My tip 👇🏼
Don’t judge yourself when your mind wanders.
Bring your attention back to sensations in your body.
Slowww your breath.
Focus on the feeling as it comes in and out through your nostrils or mouth.
And if your mind really wants to wander, let it.
Maybe that is what you need from your practice that day.

💗 Slowing down takes practice.
In our busy society, slowing down is truly going against the grain.
Congratulations for even considering it!! Truly 👏🏻
My tip 👇🏼
Be patient & gentle with yourself.
We are hard-wired for instant gratification, so slowing down won’t happen overnight.
What’s the saying, Rome wasn’t built in a day? 🤪
